Why is it a good idea to "get a job"?

Some applicants who have strong academic credentials do not have (in the opinion of admissions committees) sufficient exposure to a health care field. Many students realize they need a break after spending 16 or more years of continuous schooling, so many who graduate take at least a year off to work in a health care environment without the distraction of coursework. In some programs a majority of a class took some time off between their bachelor's degree and their matriculation.

In addition to many postbac opportunities in research or in a biomedical industry firm, employment in a hospital setting can help a delayed applicant or reapplicant. Here are opportunities that many Mason students have taken:
