Health Professions Advising at Mason |
||
University ResourcesStudent CommunityGeneral InformationStudents who are involved in the learning community at George Mason University have higher rates of success in graduating. All students should look into participating in at least one student organization, including the ones listed here with an emphasis to supporting prehealth students. These organizations usually sponsor programs involving admissions officers and community members interested in the health professions. These programs also offer great opportunities for leadership, which admissions committees value. Alpha Epsilon DeltaAED is an honor society for students interested in all health professions. Most of its members are interested in medical school, but all members are welcome. One can be active in the organization, but recognition as an inducted member is contingent on satisfactory academic performance. Join their Facebook group! There's also an informal Facebook group. Pre-dental SocietyThe PDS welcomes all students who aspire to become a member of the dental profession. Past programs have included admissions visits and interviewing tips. Pre-pharmacy SocietyThe PPS is our newest pre-professional club that serves the interests and needs of pre-pharmacy students. Join their Facebook group! Pre-optometry ClubThe POC serves students who want to go into optometry school. The club is involved with community service drives to "recycle" old eyeglasses and sunglasses to make available for the underserved either through Unite for Sight or the Lion's Club. Join their Facebook group!
