Information for ApplicantsIntroductionStudents who are ready to apply for admission to a health professions program, have nearly completed their science prerequisite coursework, and had acquired a significant amount of interest in the professional health care field should be accessing this portion of the website. If you are within one year away from taking your standardized test or within two years of applying to enter a health professions program, you should be reviewing information on this part of the website. TimelineResourcesUniversity Career Services has various documents for on the application process for premedical students including a list of internet resources and career information in the biological and chemical sciences and nursing/health care among other majors. Abbreviated versions of this information (or elaborated for those not interested in medical school) are described in this section. Eligible seniors should also contact the Office of Postgraduate Fellowships and Scholarships to see if they are eligible for merit-based graduate scholarships. Many of these scholarships are very competitive and require an accomplished record of academic achievement and community service. Through the NIH Graduate Partnership Program, MSTP (MD/PhD) applicants are also encouraged to apply for these postgraduate fellowships, and winners can usually defer their entry into medical school while having their scholarship research count towards their Ph.D. degree. Most of the advice focuses on conventional undergraduate-level or recent alumni applications. This link provides additional advice for current graduate student or employee applicants. |
